One of the first extended surprise roles that appeared in the film was Chris Evans playing the Human Torch. He played the role in the 2000s Tim Story Fantastic Four films. His portrayal of the character was always loved by fans and it was a delight seeing him reprise the character after 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

On his Instagram story, Evans thanked Reynolds, Jackman, and director Shawn Levy for allowing him to be a part of the new film. The actor further stated that playing Johnny Storm again was a total hoot and the character will always have a special place in his heart. The Captain America star was especially grateful to Reynolds for making his appearance happen.

Reynolds praised Evan’s portrayal of Johnny, calling it the greatest show on Earth. He is thankful for wearing his Deadpool mask as they couldn’t keep a straight face while shooting their scenes together. The Proposal star commented on Evans’ post,

Watching @chrisevans reprise Johnny Storm was the greatest show on Earth. The reaction the audience has seeing him feels like that old friend back from the dead. Thank God for my mask because I couldn’t keep a straight face during the ‘one particular’ scene.

The duo must have cracked up a lot when shooting the scene where Deadpool accuses Johnny of making some mean comments about Cassandra Nova. Reynolds and Evans’ dynamic in that scene was pure comedy gold and it proved to be one of the most hilarious moments of the film. The Captain America star really got to shine with his amusingly filthy approach as Johnny Storm.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Evans revealed that only Reynolds could have convinced him for the film. The actor revealed that he only shot for a few days and it was a pretty easy filming schedule for him. He was so excited to reprise the role and he trusted Reynolds’ unique sense of humor. Evans said,

I just had to fly in real quick, do a couple days of filming, and fly out. For me, it was pretty easy. I was so excited. He makes the joke before the audience gets a chance to make the joke, so if you’re going to revisit a character and you have to find a way to make it work, Ryan’s humor makes just about everything work, so you feel an automatic sense of safety.

Deadpool & Wolverine has already passed the $500 million mark (via Forbes) and is expected to soon breach past the $1 billion mark. It’s awesome that MCU fans got to see the return of their beloved MCU stars Evans and Robert Downey Jr. return to the MCU during the weekend.
