Thanos is all set to return to the MCU in the upcoming What If…? Season 2. The Mad Titan is still regarded as one of the best superhero villains we have seen. When he was spotted in the recently released trailer of the animated MCU show, the fans were hyped up to see what follows next. From the scenes, it looks like we might see a version of the Battle of Wakanda once again in the series.
While Thanos was featured in several parts of the trailer, one of the most crucial scenes was his fight against Steve Rogers’ Captain America. From Steve Rogers’ Wakandan Shields, it was also clear that we will see a recreated version of the famous Wakanda sequence seen in Avengers: Infinity War.
Thanos is officially coming back to the MCU
Thanos is hailed as one of the best villains of all time. The Mad Titan’s presentation in the Infinity Saga and especially in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame was phenomenal. The fans are all set to get him once again in the upcoming season of Marvel Studios’ first animated series What If…?.
The MCU has been witnessing a rough patch of time lately after the repeated disappointments of their recent projects. Amidst this, when the trailer of What If…? Season 2 was dropped, the ardent fans didn’t fail to notice the brother of Eros in it. From fighting against Steve Rogers’ Captain America to Peggy Carter’s Captain Carter, he is seen in several parts of the trailer.
In the specific scene featuring Captain Carter against Thanos, another MCU character Kahhori can also be seen. Kahhori is a new original character created for the MCU making her debut in the animated series.
Additionally, Thanos can also be seen in two different parts of the poster. Some fans also speculate Thanos to be featured in more than one episode of the upcoming series.
What If…? Season 2 is going to be crazier than we have thought
What If…? was a good show in the MCU that garnered favorable response from all around. It featured multiversal stories focusing on several unconventional scenarios to iconic MCU moments that could have led to different possibilities. Following the success of the first season, Season 2 is all set to release 9 new episodes for 9 consecutive days from December 22.
Director Bryan Andrews, who helmed the first season, is also going to make his return as the director along with Jeffrey Wright‘s voice as The Watcher. Andrews has confirmed that the upcoming season is set to be “wackier” than Season 1 and they even expect to elevate things up in Season 3. It is hoped that What If…? Season 2 can turn out to be a major success after the success of their Disney+ series Loki Season 2.
What If…? can be streamed on Disney+, while Season 2 will start streaming on December 22, 2023, with a new episode every day.
