It is no secret that the now disgraced producer, Harvey Weinstein, was very influential in Hollywood. As a renowned film producer, Weinstein’s career spanned several decades and encompassed many successful films. Besides that, he also spread countless rumors against actresses including Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, and many more, undermining their talent as actresses. Not only that but behind the glitz and glamour of the film industry, disturbing rumors and allegations of sexual assault emerged, culminating in one of the most significant scandals in modern history. He is now serving 23 years of jail time, for the charges against him after being found guilty.
Although it was inevitable since the producer was often seen boasting about the actress he slept with to help him in their careers. Jennifer Lawrence was finally seen addressing the rumors that he circulated to taint her reputation after Charlize Theron, who also went through a similar thing.
Jennifer Lawrence finally addressed the weirdest rumor she heard about herself
In the “73 Questions with…” video for Vogue, the actress, Jennifer Lawrence whose career has spanned almost two decades with a multitude of successful films and an academy award under her belt, was compelled to refute some disturbing rumors. It is very hard for the women out there to make it big in Hollywood, than the boys. Therefore, despite being talented, women in business have to face a number of challenges to prove themselves and their talent time and again. In the video for Vogue, the actress when asked about the weirdest rumor about herself that she has ever come across, answered without skipping a beat,
“That I f***** Harvey Weinstein”.
This comes after the disgraced producer, Harvey Weinstein circulated a rumor of her giving him sexual favors in order to get ahead in her career. According to the 2018 lawsuit, he said,
“I slept with Jennifer Lawrence and look where she is; she has just won an Oscar.”
This rumor compelled the actress to release a statement in order to protect her integrity and dignity. Where she said, her heart goes out to the victims of the producer in question and explained how this isn’t something new and is yet another example of the predatory behavior women in the industry have to face on a daily basis.
Charlie Theron on the Harvey Weinstein rumors
In a similar context, the actress Charlize Theron also came out with a similar rumor she came across that the disgraced producer, Harvey Weinstein spread against her. While she was promoting her movie Bombshell, which was about the Fox News chairman with matching allegations of gross misconduct. She said to the New York Times,
“[Weinstein] did that to everybody,—Pitting women against each other? He was really, really good at that. There was a lot of, like, ‘Well, I’m talking to Gwyneth [Paltrow] for this movie–One of his lines was that Renée [Zellweger] and I slept with him to get jobs’,–There was no limit to him. Even in the sexual favours, he would still pit us against each other.”
Since then both the actress, Theron, and Zellweger came out refuting the bizarre lies that were presented in front of them. Although they were not the only ones, Gwyneth Paltrow, also was in a similar situation that followed after the lies that Weinstein spread against the actresses. Following the severe allegations, that came out during the #MeToo movement, Weinstein faced legal consequences for his actions. In 2020, he was found guilty of r-pe and s-xual assault and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
