“That man is drama,” one fan put it rightly, and if there’s any truth to the latest report, Ben Affleck’s certainly lived up to that reputation. Per multiple insiders, Affleck was the driving force behind The Greatest Love Story Never Told—the controversial documentary about his relationship with Jennifer Lopez—even when her own team wasn’t on board.

Released in February under Affleck’s production company, Artists Equity, the documentary gave fans a peek into the couple’s love story. But here’s the kicker: while Affleck seemed like the laid-back, reluctant participant, sources claim he was the mastermind behind the whole thing. In a latest tweet shared by Pop Crave, an insider spilled the beans:

He insisted on the documentary … when you look at the doc, it looks like he’s surprised by it and not signing up for it. He was playing the role of playing the regular guy and meanwhile, he was the engine in back of it.

Lopez’s team wasn’t thrilled about the idea. They wanted her to focus on her album and Amazon video project, This Is Me…Now: A Love Story. But Affleck reportedly had other plans. He took control, even overshadowing the director, to ensure the narrative aligned with his vision.

Fast forward to August, and the drama continued off-screen. Lopez filed for divorce, dropping Affleck from her last name and filing without a lawyer. It seems that the man who appeared distant and detached in the documentary wasn’t far from reality.
