The special featured performances from Cyrus, Brandi Carlile, Saweetie, and Anitta, along with comedic sketches from Davidson. The duo heavily promoted the special including an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The duo talked about their approach or the special and wanting to provide some form of delightful escapism for audiences during the pandemic. In one hilarious segment of their appearance, Cyrus did a cover of Yvonne Fair’s iconic song It Should Have Been Me. The singer improved the song and playfully dissed Davidson for going out with Kim Kardashian when they should have been promoted their special.
Kardashian and Davidson had reportedly started dating at the time and unlike Davidson who was cracking up at Cyrus’ improved words, Kardashian seemed less impressed. Miley Cyrus recently became the youngest recipient of the Disney Legend Award at D23. The singer couldn’t hold her excitement as she tearfully accepted the prestigious award. In her speech, she harkened back to the days of Hannah Montana and imagined what her life could be.
The Party in the USA hitmaker dedicated the award to her character from the show and all the fans who have loved it all these years. She expressed her gratitude to the show for giving her the career she always wanted, which was performing and creating music. Cyrus said (via People),
