Episode 2 of House of the Dragon started with a bang as Tom Glynn-Carney’s King Aegon smashes the elaborately sculpted model of Old Valyria, aka King Viserys’ LEGO set. Paddy Considine, the actor who portrayed the latter royalty in Season 1, is hilariously furious about it.
The second installment of the famed HBO fantasy series introduces the Dance of the Dragons, the bloody and brutal civil war within the House Targaryen as they fight for succession and rulership.
Paddy Considine Reacts To King Viserys’ Ruined Model Of Old Valyria
House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 opened with Tom Glynn-Carney’s King Aegon smashing King Viserys’ miniature replica of Old Valyria, the ancestral home of the Targaryen dynasty. He poured his fury onto the unfortunate scale model as he cursed over the death of Prince Jaehaerys, his son and heir to the throne.
Many fans took to social media their reactions to this scene. In the first season, netizens have already dubbed this stone model as King Viserys’ LEGO set. The royalty seemed very obsessed with this replica of the Valyrian Freeholds, and he took so much pride and joy in it when he was still living.
Now, after what King Aegon did to his painstakingly detailed model of the Targaryen homeland, actor Paddy Considine took to Instagram his reaction and even shared a meme of his character. In the caption, he wrote: “Cheers Tom! That took me f@@@ing years to make.”
Netizens were amused with the actor’s reaction and how he remains in touch with the show despite departing from it in 2022. Considine’s performance in the first season was highly lauded by fans and critics. He created his own version of the character and made it his own. Even the improvisations he made left an impact on the audience.
With King Viserys’ scale model now ruined, it also seemed symbolic and foretelling of the war and the rift that will ensue within the Targaryen family.
Paddy Considine Reveals King Viserys’ Final Words In House Of The Dragon Were Unscripted
King Viserys’ final moments in House of the Dragon were both painful and joyful – he was suffering from leprosy which explained the decaying of his skin, and the last memory of his family was their happy dinner together.
Paddy Considine admitted to improvising many lines in the show. In his interview with Vulture, he revealed his final words, “My love,” was indeed not part of the script.
The moment at the end — in my mind, I’ve made a choice that as he dies, he sees Aemma. When he reaches out and says, “My love,” that’s what he sees the moment he dies.
This was King Viserys’ last scene in Season 1, and even in his character’s death, Considine made sure to put his own touch and make it feel more human.
House of the Dragon Season 2 is now streaming on HBO.
