Trent Reznor Calls Working on Bird Box “A F—Ing Waste of Time”

On the December 31, 2019, issue of Revolver, the Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor criticized working on the Sandra Bullock starter, Bird Box. The certified musical legends, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who have worked on movies such as The Social NetworkThe Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl, were approached for scoring one of 2018 biggest movies. Although it was an interesting prospect, as they dove further into the project, they found themselves dealing with a film editor with “bad taste”. As per Variety, he stated,

“When we got immersed in it, it felt like some people were phoning it in. And you’re stuck with a film editor who had real bad taste,–That’s kind of our barricade to getting stuff in the film. And the final icing on the sh-t cake was we were on tour when they mixed it. And they mixed the music so low, you couldn’t hear it anyway. So it was like, that was a … [Laughs] That was a f–king waste of time. Then we thought, no one’s going to see this f–king movie. And, of course, it’s the hugest movie ever in Netflix.”

To make matters worse, the unfortunate cherry on top of this chaotic situation was that them being on a tour while the final mixing took place. Although Reznor and Ross were already upset with the way the movie handled the original music score, this further led the music to be so incredibly low, that it was regrettably very close to being inaudible.

And most popular and obvious choice among the fan theories is to explore the origin of the invisible creatures lurking around, terrorizing and threatening the very existence of human beings. Although nothing is yet confirmed, it is for sure that the movie could go any way. Fans sure do hope to see a second installment answering all their questions soon.
