The 66-year-old actor, Tom Hanks opened up about the 2002 acclaimed crime drama Road to Perdition when the host of the ReelBlend podcast called the film one of his favorites.

After it was brought to his attention, Hanks shared how his fans have forgotten about the classic gem.

“You just gave me chills, because I got news for ya, for one reason or another, no one references Road to Perdition. And that was a[n] incredibly important movie for me to go through.”

He continued to share the reason why the film needs to get the appreciation it deserves.

“It was shot by Conrad Hall, and you have me in it, ‘Don mustache’ with a hat on it”

The major reason involving that he thought was more than enough was Hanks killing two biggest stars of Hollywood on-screen.

“You also have two guys who turned out to be two of the biggest motion picture presences in the history of the industry with Jude Law and [Daniel] Craig. And I killed both of them…”

The film is definitely worth recognition from his fans after all, the project has much more to offer than just his presence. It was a critical success grossing over $181 million worldwide.

Adapted from Max Allan Collins’s graphic novel of the same name by screenwriter David Self, it has become a true classic in Hanks’ eyes.

He continued to share how this film might age after years ahead.

“People always say, ‘What movies will they be talking about years from now?’ As a guy who watches Turner Classic Movies a lot, and the more obscure and unknown a movie from 1940s or 1950s the better, because I have no preconceived notions about it, I don’t know anything about it.”

But he understands that this film is worth anyone’s time as it has lots of elements that Hanks didn’t wanna miss.

“And when you watch those movies and it’s crackerjack and it’s incredibly moving and all I can think of is ‘I’m so glad this movie lasts forever, so I got a chance to revisit it now. That might be the case with Road to Perdition.”

The film was a great success that earned 5 Academy Awards nominations with 1 win for cinematography to Conrad Hall.

Road to Perdition is available on Netflix.
