Juliette Binoche’s Role in Godzilla Left Many Fans Disappointed

Juliette Binoche is an incredibly well-respected actress in French cinema as well as Hollywood, so there was quite a lot of hype surrounding the news that actress would be part of the 2014 movie Godzilla. To the surprise and disappointment of the audience however, the actress only appeared in the movie for one scene in the opening minutes of the movie where her character was killed off.

This was something that the movie did quite regularly with big-name actors where they would either kill them off, something that Bryan Cranston, known for his work in Breaking Bad, also fell prey to, or they would have them in the background as supporting characters as it did with Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn.

Quentin Tarantino Got Emotional Over Juliette Binoche’s Role In Godzilla

During an interview with Indiewire, Juliette Binoche revealed that though many fans were quite upset by this format of the movie Godzilla, Acadamy-award-winning director, Quentin Tarantino was quite impressed by the movie. Tarantino went on to contact Binoche to let her know that her performance in the movie made him teary-eyed, despite being quite short.

“[Quentin] Tarantino said to me, ‘That was the first time I’ve ever cried during a 3D blockbuster. I had to take off my glasses to wipe away my tears.’ I took it as a compliment,” Juliette Binoche explained.

The director even went on to tell the actress that that was the first time he had cried during a movie of that type, being a blockbuster 3D movie. He joked that her performance made him so emotional that he had to take off his glasses in the middle to wipe away his tears. This coming from a person of that much talent, Binoche took this as a compliment, being proud of her capabilities to make someone this emotional in this short scene.
