Unlike many other television shows out there, Breaking Bad was one of the lucky ones whose ending left fans satisfied. The show ended on September 29, 2013, leaving behind a perfectly wrapped-up series starring Bryan Cranston. Some would even go as far as to say that it is one of the greatest series finales of all time.

However, what if things had ended differently? What if Breaking Bad didn’t get the finale it deserved and the show left fans disappointed in the end? Well, fans on Reddit have some ideas on how everything could have gone South and one alternate ending that involves Better Call Saul’s Kim Wexler has managed to catch our eye.

Breaking Bad ended with the freedom of Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman and the death of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White. After being mortally wounded in an attempt to free Jesse and kill the Neo-Nazis, Walt finds solace in his meth lab and admires his life’s work for one last time before succumbing to his wounds.

Fans loved the perfect finale to Walt’s story but there is a good chance that the show could have ended a lot differently and given fans an ending they didn’t love as much. While luckily nothing of the sort happened, we are always free to use our imaginations and come up with possible scenarios, right?

Well, that’s what Breaking Bad’s fans did on the r/breakingbad subreddit on Reddit. When a user asked “How would Breaking Bad have a terrible ending” like that of Game of Thrones or Dexter, fans did not disappoint with their answers and came up with some of the most mind-boggling and frustrating alternate endings.

One even suggested that the show could have ended with Walt waking up from a deep sleep and realizing everything that happened was just a dream. That would NOT have pleased the fans at all!

There was one alternate ending that stood out from the rest, though, which involves Rhea Seehorn’s Kim Wexler. For those who have not seen Breaking Bad’s spin-off, Better Call Saul, Kim is a highly-skilled lawyer and Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman’s (Bob Odenkirk) confidante. The two develop a romantic relationship and eventually get married.

In the alternate ending suggested by @dat_oracle, Kim turns out to be the mastermind behind controlling Gus Fring and The Cartel, all while successfully manipulating the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration).

Fans were obviously blown away by this idea that could potentially lead to another spin-off. With Cranston’s Walt out of the picture, the show would revolve around Kim and how she managed to pull it all off while remaining in the shadows.

If this actually happened in the show, we aren’t sure if fans would still be calling Breaking Bad’s ending one of the best out there.

While we can sit around for hours and discuss what could have been, Cranston is quite satisfied with how things ended on Breaking Bad. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he stated that the show gave both Walt and Jesse the perfect send-offs.

He’s happy that even though Walt dies, Jesse finally gets his ‘riding into the sunset’ moment which, let’s be honest, no one deserves more than him.

Calling the finale “very satisfying” and “apologetic,” Cranston stated,

It’s fitting. It’s complete. When I see Jesse, this involuntary sense comes over me. He’s been treated like a dog — like a beaten dog — and it just shocks me, and impulsively I protect him. He’s going off into the sunset. It’s fitting that the man who was so put upon and mistreated has a chance. And I like how it ends, because it’s not like, ‘Oh, he’s got the money.’ No. He’s just got his life, so he has a chance — just a chance.

He also added how the finale confirmed that the characters’ lives were a tragedy nothing short of a Shakespearean level. Where you realize that their lives could have gone a different way than they did.

a tragedy of almost Shakespearean level… Tragedy is not a bunch of bad guys doing bad things: ‘Oh, they killed the good guys!’ Tragedy is when the bad guys are sympathized, when you realize that it could have gone another way.

Cranston stated that the show was never black and white when it comes to good guys vs. bad guys. It was “much muddier than that” and we couldn’t agree more.
