While Star Trek has stuck to the TV space, Star Wars has found more success in the theatrical arena and has hence, attracted many Hollywood stars. However, one prominent star from George Lucas’ franchise was almost lost to Star Trek. Actress Rosario Dawson revealed that before Ahsoka, she was tapped to be a villain in Star Trek: Picard.

Actress Rosario Dawson made her Star Wars debut in the second season of The Mandalorian. The actress was cast as the Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano in the Disney Plus show. It was the first live-acton appearance of the popular character and Dawson’s performance was well-received by fans.

While she got her own show Ahsoka, Dawson recently revealed that she was almost cast in Star Trek: Picard but she had to let it go as she had already signed on to Star Wars. The actress has confessed that she is a massive Trekkie and that letting go of the role was heartbreaking for her.

In a Star Wars panel at the Fan Expo in Boston, Dawson opened up about the role that was pitched to her (via The Telegram),

I could have been one of Odo’s species, the changeling. I could have been an immortal puddle guys. Do you understand my pain? That would have been really cool. I  also really pushed to be a ‘Q.’ My dad. That was my dad, ‘Be Q.’ I’m like, I’m trying. Right? Then I can be, you know, annoying…cause chaos, which I love.’

Odo is an antagonistic shape-shifter, who was first introduced in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Dawson mentioned that she would have been a villain who was also a changeling.

Rosario Dawson Admitted Her Love For Star Trek At The Star Wars Panel

While Rosario Dawson has been synonymous with her role as Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars franchise, she seemed to be in cahoots with the ‘enemy’. The actress has often expressed her adoration for Star Trek on multiple occasions and even found it funny that she ended up in the rival sci-fi franchise.

Dawson reportedly unleashed her inner Trekkie in a panel that was funnily dedicated to Star Wars at the Fan Expo in Boston and spoke about how she made references to the iconic show on the sets of Ahsoka. She said (via The Telegram),

I’m definitely a ‘Next Gen’ girl. Captain Picard all the way. I have a video of me being dressed as Ahsoka holding up the Picard Earl Gray tea bottle. One of these days I will post it.

The actress also mentioned that she would love to be part of the X-Men franchise in the MCU and said that Marvel/Disney knows how to find her if they are interested. She also confirmed that a second season of Ahsoka was in development.
