However, before its release, Hanks wasn’t sure about the fate of the film. Previously, during an interview, Hanks shared that he was always worried about his career, following his appearance in Forrest Gump. Living in the realm of speculation, Hank asked the film’s director, Robert Zemeckis,

“I say, ‘Hey Bob, I’ve got a question for you. Is anybody going to care about this movie?’ ‘This guy sitting on a thing in these goofy shoes and this cuckoo suit with a suitcase full of Curious George books and stuff like that. Are we doing anything here that is going to make any sense to anybody?’”

Hanks clearly didn’t see the forthcoming success of the film, as he became very doubtful about the film. He said,

“We may be sowing the seeds of our own destruction. Any footstep we take can be a bouncing Betty that’ll blow our nuts right off.”

However, to Hanks’ surprise, his fear never came true, as the film turned out to be the best film of its time. Forrest Gump won many awards for his performance. Hanks won the Best Actor Academy Award, and the film was voted Best Picture.
