The recent chapter of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has brought a big change to the story by showing a side of Fleet Admiral Akainu that no one has ever seen before. With the Straw Hat Pirates getting away from the clutches of the Marines and the World Government, Akainu was angry with the soldiers present at the scene.

Thus, when he finally gets a chance to talk to Admiral Kizaru, he straight up takes out his frustration on his former fellow Admiral. But this was not the right to shout at Kizaru, as he just killed his close friend and was heartbroken about it. In retaliation, Kizaru angrily expressed his feelings, which led to Akainu instantly regretting his way of speaking with Kizaru and apologizing to him.

This was a shocking revelation to One Piece fans, as Akainu is one of the more arrogant and brutal characters in the series. Many even believed that Oda might be trying to redeem Akainu for his past actions. But this won’t be as easy as Oda thinks because Akainu is responsible for Ace’s death, and fans won’t forgive him for it so easily.

Akainu’s Most Ruthless Act in One Piece

In the One Piece world, Akainu is considered to be the most hated character because of his role during the Marineford War. The sole purpose of the war was to save Ace from being executed, and the Whitebeard Pirates and all the other characters who took part in it would have been successful if it were not for Akainu.

Akainu’s shrewdness led to him manipulating Squard, one of the Whitebeard Pirates’ allies who thought that Whitebeard was going to betray all of them to save Ace. Squard was so angry at Whitebeard that he stabbed him. However, Akainu’s worst act was seen when he manipulated Ace to fight him.

During the conclusion of the war, Luffy was successful in saving Ace, and as the brothers were making a run for it, Akainu started taunting Whitebeard in front of Ace. Ace got enraged because of his love for his father figure and decided to fight him. Akainu took advantage of it and was about to kill Luffy, but Ace came in between and lost his life in the process.

It is understandable that Akainu was just following his principle of Absolute Justice, but still, his crookedness can never be justified. One Piece fans might be able to understand things from his perspective, but they won’t be able to forgive him.

One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
