The Amazon Prime Video series The Boys has never shied away from exploring the darkest depths of the human psyche, especially when it comes to a deranged and broken character like Homelander. Actor Antony Starr also perfectly encapsulates the hurt yet overpowered superhero, who is unpredictable and can laser an innocent bystander without warning.

The fourth season of the show premiered earlier this month and the fourth episode aired earlier today. The episode sees Homelander trying to come to terms with his aging and go back to the lab in which he was experimented to confront his past. There he ends up playing a game of torture with his childhood tormentors, the scientists in the lab he was raised in.

Starr’s deranged performance has driven fans crazy, with many considering it to be award-worthy. The Boys creator Eric Kripke himself echoed this sentiment and said to Variety,

In Homelander’s example, [Antony’s] ability to give 16 facial expressions when another person gives one is just so astounding. Give that guy an Emmy already. I don’t understand why it hasn’t happened yet.

Amidst a divisive season, which has been criticized for the political direction in which it is going, Antony Starr’s performance seems to be the only common ground that all fans seem to agree.

Fans Campaign For Antony Starr To Be Cast As Eobard Thawne In The DCU

Any creepy performance with a crazy laugh makes fans immediately cast the actor as the Joker. While Antony Starr too has been often considered to be a perfect fit by fans, there is also another role from the same universe that is tailor-made for him. After the latest episode, fans began to campaign for him to be cast as Eobard Thawne a.k.a Reverse Flash in the DCU.

Thawne is one of the most dangerous supervillains in the DC universe. Primarily a villain for Barry Allen a.k.a the Flash, the character has the ability to go faster than the speed of light, produce extreme force, travel through and manipulate time to alter history, and generate power and vacuum. He is also a metahuman who is one of the smartest people on the planet.

Similar to Homelander, Reverse Flash uses his abilities to gain control over the world and finds non-powerful humans to be inferior. He also kills Barry Allen’s mother to exact revenge on him in the Flashpoint storyline. He was portrayed by Tom Cavanagh in CW’s The Flash.

While James Gunn may not have cast his Reverse Flash yet in the DCU, Antony Starr could be the perfect candidate as his commitment with The Boys would mostly end after season five, which the creator confirmed to be the final season (via Variety).

The Boys is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
