However, many were disappointed with the results of the 2023 Academy Awards, when the Tár star was not awarded Best Actress Oscar.
Although she may not have won this time, she’ll certainly have plenty more opportunities in the future, and it looks like Quentin Tarantino’s final film could be one of them.
Cate Blanchett Likely to Lead Quentin Tarantino’s Final Film
Quentin Tarantino has declared that his 10th film, The Movie Critic, will be his last film. The film is reportedly still in the early stages of development, and the director already has someone in his mind for it. Industry insider Jeff Sneider shared details about who could be cast as the lead in Tarantino’s last film.
Jeff Sneider joined John Rocha on The Hot Mic podcast and shared some intriguing details about the upcoming film. He shared that although there have been rumors that Margot Robbie is expected to star in the movie, the Pulp Fiction director would love to have Cate Blanchett as the lead in his final film.
“There’ve been a lot of rumors that Margot Robbie would star,” Sneider said before adding, “but the name I have heard, and this is thin, is Cate Blanchett.” However, he also mentioned that the role might not be for her.
John Rocha was also supportive of Blanchett taking the lead role in The Movie Critic, as he said that it would be “fascinating” to see her in the film. He even went on to claim that it could land the Tár star her next Oscar. Details regarding the film’s plot and its cast are being kept under wrap, and not much is publicly available about it yet.

Quentin Tarantino’s Final Film Critical of Hollywood’s Current State
Although not many details about the film are available yet, sources close to the project have revealed some information about it. The Movie Critic is allegedly based in the late 1970s and follows a female lead. Many believe the Django Unchained director’s final film could focus on a renowned critic, Pauline Kael. However, it is also not confirmed yet.
During his recent conversation with John Rocha, Jeff Sneider also shared that he’s heard that “the project is highly critical of the current state of Hollywood.” There have also been claims that Pauline Kael might not be the subject of Tarantino’s upcoming film.
