Cate Blanchett received her eighth Oscar nomination at the 95th Academy Awards for Todd Field’s 2022 psychological drama Tar. The film followed world-famous composer-conductor Lydia Tár, who became the first female director of a major German orchestra. Blanchett won hearts with her performance in the film. However, many were disappointed with the results of the 2023 Academy Awards, when the Tár star was not awarded Best Actress Oscar.
