The director is known for his fresh take on superhero comic stories and exceptional cinematography. Snyder debunked Star Wars with his plans for his franchise.
However, fans of Star Wars are not pleased by Zack Snyder’s disregard for one of the biggest hits of the industry. They waged a Twitter war on the Man of Steel director.
Zack Snyder trashed iconic Star Wars over his film Rebel Moon
The trailer of Zach Snyder’s upcoming film, Rebel Moon, was revealed a few days ago and led to a comparison with Star Wars. However, it is not merely coincidental, as the story of Rebel Moon was initially linked to Star Wars.
Film producer Deborah Snyder shared in an event,
“Once, it was a Star Wars film, and I never wanted it to be. I remember, I said to Zack, ‘I just feel like your hands are going to be tied so much in what that IP is,’ even though it kind of lived outside of it. So I was kind of happy when that fell apart because I always felt like it was better. To do something that is fantastical, we say it’s a science fantasy more than science fiction, and to take all those skills that Zack has been honing, and to do something in this space, just seemed really exciting.”
Producer Eric Newman agreed with Snyder on distancing themselves from Star Wars,
“I remember [Zack] calling me at some point, and this has got to be 15 years ago, saying, ‘I’m thinking of doing Seven Jedi, in the Star Wars universe.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s a cool idea.’ […] Then, a few years later, he calls me and goes, ‘You know, I think it could be a television show.’ I’m like, ‘Yes, let’s do this! F*** ‘Star Wars!’ Let’s do this as a TV show.’”
Rebel Moon is based on a story by Snyder, which he co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten.
Fans of Star Wars are offended by Zack Snyder’s comment
Star Wars is one of the iconic films of the Hollywood industry and enjoys a massive fan following. Hence, when someone like Zack Snyder criticizes it, people take it personally. Fans feel offended by his statement on the film and his comparison of Star Wars with the upcoming film, Rebel Moon.
