Directed by the acclaimed Luca Guadagnino, Challengers has hit theaters and is generating a lot of buzz. The movie boasts a stellar cast alongside Zendaya, with names like Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor playing pivotal roles. Reviews from fans and critics have been positive, praising the film’s execution and, unsurprisingly, Zendaya’s performance.

If you’re looking for online validation, Challengers seems to be delivering. The movie currently holds a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, there’s one metric causing a stir among Zendaya’s fans, the CinemaScore. It assigns a letter grade (from A+ to F) based directly on feedback from moviegoers exiting theaters in North America.

The site has given a B+ rating to the romantic sports drama. While a B+ isn’t a bad score by any means, it falls short of the expectations some fans might have had for the Zendaya-led film. Fans went vocal on social media to show their appreciation for the movie and shock at the movie being rated anything less than A.

Of all Zendaya movies rated by CinemaScore, Challengers is the first to be rated below A. Regardless, it seems the movie is doing well at the box office. Made on a budget of $55 Million, the movie is projected to gross somewhere in the range of $15 Million in its opening weekend.

Challengers dives into the cutthroat world of professional tennis but with a twist of romance and personal history thrown in. Zendaya takes on the role of Tashi, a former tennis prodigy who has transitioned into coaching. Her husband, Art (played by Mike Faist), was once a mediocre player, but under Tashi’s guidance, becomes a world-famous grand slam champion. However, Art’s recent slump has thrown everything into question.

To reignite his competitive fire, Tashi makes him enter into a “challenger” event – a lower-level tournament often used by up-and-coming players. Her plan takes a dramatic turn when Art’s opponent is revealed to be Patrick (played by Josh O’Connor), a once-promising player whose career fizzled out. The catch? Patrick is Art’s former best friend and also Tashi’s ex-boyfriend. The movie is currently in the theatres.
