There’s a frequent misconception that a film with an ensemble cast of A-list celebrities would be filled with ego clashes. But Ocean’s Eleven series starring the who’s who of Hollywood proved this myth wrong. The trilogy of films starred huge names like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts who, apart from setting the screen alive, also had a whale of a time on set.

A major part of their camaraderie on and off-screen was due to George Clooney’s penchant for being a prankster on set. The Oscar winner has been famously known to play iconic tricks on all of his co-stars without exception. But Clooney once got a taste of his own medicine when his colleague and friend Brad Pitt decided to do the same on the sets of their film, Ocean’s Twelve.

How Brad Pitt Brutally Tricked George Clooney

Ocean’s Eleven and its sequels attained cult status not just for the thrilling action, but also for the glittering cast of Hollywood royalty who also managed to have a rollicking time on set. George Clooney who headlined the films, was also the leader of the trickster club and has been popularly known to play brutal pranks on all of his co-stars. But the Syriana actor had the favor returned to him with interest by Brad Pitt.

Recalling the incident and what transpired, Matt Damon, who was also part of Ocean’s Twelve, stated that Pitt wrote a pompous and arrogant letter in Italian to the Italian film crew pretending that he was George Clooney. The crew who all knew The Descendants star to be a humble and friendly personality who spent a lot of time in Italy, were taken aback by the tone of the message and started to ignore Clooney on set which made the actor confused.

“You know George… Cause he’s you know the life of the set, like ‘Hey! How’s everyone doing?’, and he comes in and is like ‘Something’s weird’ and he can’t figure it out. And we were all staying together at his house, and he came home and that’s the maddest I’ve ever seen him because Brad got him.”

Clooney, though furious about being tricked, had to eventually admit that Brad Pitt brilliantly pulled one over him and exacted revenge for all the times that he and his other co-stars were on the receiving end.

George Clooney Famously Pranked These Comedians

Everyone who has come into contact with George Clooney personally or professionally, is sure to have one memory in which the star has gotten the better of them through his flair for pranks. Talented comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are two celebrities who were on the receiving end of the Ocean’s Eleven star’s wild imagination. As co-hosts of the Golden Globe awards in 2014, Fey and Poehler hilariously trolled many actors including George Clooney and Sandra Bullock who were part of one of the biggest films of that year, Gravity.

“He did like a whole revenge thing on us. He did all these George Clooney pranks on me and Amy. He sent me this letter that was supposedly from Matt Damon, that he was upset with us and the joke we had done. We lived in fear of it.”

Tina Fey elaborated that George Clooney really sold the lie by going the full distance and actually having stationary made with Matt Damon’s name on it. From these incidents, it is abundantly clear that George Clooney is indeed the undisputed  king of pranks.
