Michael Caine met his wife Shakira Caine in the 1970s when he saw her in a Maxwell House coffee commercial. The moment he saw the former actress, he knew she was the one for him, and was even ready to go to Brazil to meet her.
In an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, he recalled how he met his wife, saying, “I saw this lady on the television in a commercial and fell in love instantly.” Despite the commercial’s focus being on Brazilian coffee, he was charmed by the lady featured in the commercial.
“I just watched her and I thought, ‘That’s the woman for me,'” he said. The Get Carter star was so determined to meet her that he was ready to fly to Brazil, believing that’s where she lived. However, to his luck, he found out that the girl he sought from the coffee commercial actually lived and worked in London.
I said, ‘Well, you know the Brazilian girl in it… I’m going to Brazil in the morning to find her. Can you help me?’ He said, ‘Micheal, she’s not Brazilian, she’s Indian… she lives in the Fulham Road.’
After getting her number from the ad agency, he sought her out relentlessly. Despite initial refusals, he persisted until she agreed to meet. “I fell in love with her in about eight minutes. It took her two hours to fall in love with me,” he recalled in an interview with Radio Times.
The couple got married in 1973 and welcomed their daughter the same year and have been together since. Before Shakira Caine, The Dark Knight actor was married to actress Patricia Haines from 1954 to 1958, with whom he shares another daughter.

After becoming the third runner-up at the beauty pageant, Shakira Caine relocated to England. She also made her acting debut with the 1969 film Carry on Again Doctor. The former actress also shared the screen with her husband in the 1975 adventure film, The Man Who Would Be King.
