In this week’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dune: Part Two stars Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh were featured. Modeled after the mouth of the sandworm monster in Dune, the prop quickly gained notoriety for all the wrong reasons. When Kimmel presented it to the cast, their expressions of disgust were obvious. Butler admitted that they were seeing these souvenirs for the first time. Kimmel playfully asked the cast to reach in and take some popcorn from the bucket, an offer that Zendaya quickly refused.

Chalamet volunteered and reached inside the bucket, only to realize how weird and difficult was it to eat popcorn from it. Kimmel shared that the bucket was not the most practical for enjoying popcorn. Florence Pugh was not a fan of the popcorn bucket at all, commenting, “Who made that? That’s not okay. That’s wrong.”

Kimmel hilariously noted that the bucket was so sturdy that it could serve as furniture in any of their apartments. Although the Oppenheimer actress wanted a closer look, when Zendaya passed it along, she was too disgusted to touch it. The Spider-Man: Homecoming actress commented that the bucket was undeniably intimidating. The clip concluded with the other stars having a look at the weird souvenir.

While the Dune popcorn buckets were definitely not a hit among the cast members, they have also left the cinema-goers in disbelief. Some dirty-minded social media users have jokingly noted how the popcorn bucket looks just like a popular men’s s*x toy. These fans did not hold back on their thoughts on X. One fan sarcastically remarked that he expected the response to the Dune popcorn buckets to be “chill and mature.”

Drawing a comparison to the s*x toy, one fan noted that he just wanted to eat his popcorn and not stick his hand in a “Fleshlight.” Another fan suggested that this promotion should be considered “a marketing war crime.” Another comment humorously predicted the popcorn bucket, making an appearance on “OnlyFans.” A fan even presented a conspiracy theory suggesting that the Dune team might have been aware of the resemblance.

Some fans are concerned that the promotional material may divert attention from the actual film. Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune received six Oscars, including Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Visual Effects. The sequel is expected to be as epic as its predecessor.

Dune: Part Two is set to be released on March 1, 2024.
