The film follows an astronaut (Sandler), who grapples with isolation and the state of his marriage during a solo mission on the edge of the solar system.
Mulligan portrays his wife back on Earth, and their complex relationship takes center stage throughout the film. In a recent interview, Sandler couldn’t hold back his praise for his co-star. Seems like the two had a great working relationship, and the Hollywood actor genuinely appreciates her talent.
Adam Sandler Amazed by 3-Time Oscar Nominee’s Performance
In an interview with Movie Fone‘s Jami Philbrick, Adam Sandler and Carey Mulligan talked all about Spaceman and how the characters relate to each other. When asked about his experience working with three-time Oscar nominee actress, the 57-year-old actor didn’t hesitate to shower her with compliments. He said:
“Yes, she is incredible. A great human being, and a great actress. I didn’t want to let anybody down. I was more excited watching her act than saying my stuff. I was like, ‘Let’s get back to Carey quick.’ She’s exceptional.”
Mulligan is a big name in Hollywood, having earned three Oscar nods for her outstanding performances in An Education, Promising Young Woman, and Maestro.
She’s known for her exceptional talent and ability to immerse herself fully into her roles. So, when Sandler couldn’t stop raving about her performance in Spaceman, it speaks volumes about how amazing she must be in the movie.

It turns out Carey Mulligan is a fan of Adam Sandler’s comedies too. In a recent interview with Collider, the 38-year-old admitted to revisiting the actor’s old movies before shooting Spaceman.
And you know which one she recommends? The Wedding Singer! According to her, it’s the perfect pick for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.
She praised his comedic prowess in the film, while also revealing a touch of pre-meeting anxiety about working with Sandler. Luckily, her fears were quelled upon meeting the actor. Look at her quote below:
“I was like, “Oh god, if I meet him and he’s not cool or nice, then it’ll ruin all of his films for me because I’ll view them through a different lens.” So I was like, “I’m gonna watch them one more time. Just enjoy.” And then I met him and he was the greatest. But The Wedding Singer just kills me. I just think he’s genius.”
Sandler has actually amazed people before with his serious acting skills. Movies like Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems showed he has the talent beyond just comedy.
His production company, Happy Madison Productions, often works with Netflix. So, there might be some new projects brewing that we haven’t heard about yet.
