Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson may have long said goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but die-hard Avengers fans have been desperately waiting for them to pop up somewhere or the other in the multiverse conundrum. While they haven’t yet, some of the mighty heroes recently reunited for The Avengers in Lakota project.
The project is an initiative of Grey Willow Music Studios & Production. This dedicated native-owned sound company has been quickly rising across the country as a formidable force in-studio sound production. Thanks to its dedicated team and initiative, five of the Avengers united to dub The Avengers in the native Lakota language over a period of 15 months.
The Avengers Reunited For A Noble Cause
The Avengers have always been a ‘noble bunch’, whether it is fighting an alien race or saving an entire city from a weird robotic force, they can do it all. Even though they might have disagreements (clue Civil War), when have they ever shied away from sacrificing their lives for the greater good?
However, this time, there wasn’t any alien race, AI robots, or laying their lives down that made them reunite. It was the noble initiative of the Grey Willow Music Studios & Production, that made Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Don Cheadle, and Mark Ruffalo come together to dub the entire The Avengers in the native Lakota Language (see X).
It took them 15 months of hard work and dedication and numerous Zoom calls to make this initiative come true. Hiring over 62 Lakota-Dakota language speakers to translate and record the script, the Grey Willow team and the actors have been working on it since last year for Avengers in Lakota.
Founded in 2017, the studio has collaborated and worked with several other conglomerates (via ICT News Org). And fans hope, their Avengers in Lakota project bores fruit, paving the way for further works and similar initiatives in the field.
Mark Ruffalo Was Crucial In Reuniting The Avengers
The Avengers in Lakota initially started as a joke when the sound production team of the Grey Willow music was sitting and chatting together in their studio last year. It was Lawrence Archambault, founder and president, who uttered these words in jest, but now these words became a vision that Mark Ruffalo helped make a reality.
“Mark Ruffalo was a huge help in introducing us to Disney-Marvel Studios. When we started talking, we said we wanted everything — our language recordings, translations and our actors – to be ‘By Natives, For Natives.’ That’s our motto.”
Archambault further adds that it was his younger brother who helped him connect with Ruffalo. And from then on the project came true with a big help from Ruffalo (via ICT News Org).
The Avengers in Lakota will be released in April 2024.
