Following the success of DC’s ‘elsewhere movie’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as Batman and Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Warner Brothers has nodded to the demand for a sequel to the movie. With that, the hype and expectation of the sequel dominated the discussion among fans on several occasions. Amid the recent news of the movie’s delay by a year, another report has surfaced. Boyd Holbrook, who appeared in MCU’s Logan as the primary antagonist, Donald Pierce— head of security and leader of the militant Reavers— is reportedly set to appear in The Batman 2.

As per the report, Holbrook, who also has Narcos and The Sandman to his credit, will play the DC villain Two-Face, potentially reflecting on the character’s transformation from Harvey Dent. Dent is a heroic and dedicated district attorney of Gotham City who vowed to clean the city from the darkness of crime to his villainous phase – Two-Face.

Holbrook is a capable actor and has proved his prowess in his previous credits. The rising star joining DC in Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel certainly sparks enthusiasm. However, there has not been any official confirmation to back the report as of writing the piece.

As much as Oppenheimer star Matt Damon would move heaven and earth for an opportunity to be in Christopher Nolan’s movie now, he rejected one of Nolan’s calls for him to play Gotham supervillain, Harvey Dent. Notably, the actor has rejected a series of astounding and promising roles, including James Cameron’s Avatar (per /Film). But the loss of The Dark Knight role, as the actor later cited in an interview with The Playlist, was due to his commitment to another movie he was filming at the time. “Well, ‘Dark Knight’ was a small role that I was offered,” he told the outlet.

“It wasn’t Heath or Christian’s part … There was some other big movie, some big part that I was doing where I was like, ‘Well, I can’t play Harvey Dent, this is a relatively small role, but I am headlining this other thing.’ But you gotta be sanguine about it and go, ‘It all works out.’ At this point, I passed on the biggest payday in the history [of cinema] accidentally, so I could never do worse financially, I could never commit a worse financial error.”

Eventually, Aaron Eckhart secured the role, and he gave a marvelous performance, turning into a supervillain from an adored hero of the city.

The Dark Knight is available to stream on Max.
