While we’ve got a plethora of live-action Batman adaptations over the years, most versions of the Caped Crusader refused to take the next step in the character’s journey and introduce Robin. However, things are about to change, as not only the DCU will give us a Bat Family, but reports suggest the sequel to Robert Pattinson’s The Batman will finally give us an age-appropriate Robin.

In both comics and animation, Robin has played a vital part in the Dark Knight’s journey that pushes Bruce to grow, so fans are reasonably excited to witness the Boy Wonder in Matt Reeves’ universe.

It’s About Time Live-Action Does Justice to the Boy Wonder

Even after eight decades since the character’s debut, the most notable version of Robin on the big screen remains Burt Ward’s depiction of Dick Grayson in the ’60s show and movie. And even though Batman Returns initially had Robin in the scheme of things, he was eventually cut, and while the character returned in the Joel Schumacher movies, it didn’t sit well with fans. And since then, every live-action Batman film avoided the Boy Wonder, thus avoiding some of the most compelling parts of the character that fans have come to love about Batman.

But with once again reports of Dick Grayson’s involvement in Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman 2 emerging, it appears we will finally get to witness a comic-accurate Dick Grayson on the big screen. And unsurprisingly, fans of Robin, who is responsible for kickstarting the trend of sidekicks back in the ’40s, are excited about the matter.

While it can’t be said for sure if these reports are true or not, considering this isn’t the first time the rumor of Robin has surfaced, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to be optimistic.

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2 Might Also Involve Hush

Apart from the Boy Wonder, another rumor has surfaced that the upcoming sequel will also witness Hush, one of Bruce Wayne’s most formidable foes, who held a grudge against him since childhood. Although the inclusion of Hush appears quite feasible in the sequel, it’s pretty likely that even if he is involved in the narrative, Hush may not be the primary villain. Considering they already told a similar story with Riddler in the first film, who bears hatred for Bruce Wayne for ruining his life, if Hush ends up being the primary antagonist, it’ll be a rehash of the first one.

But very likely this might not be the case, as it seems the sequel will also play with a plethora of iconic Batman foes like the first one, as the forthcoming Penguin show will further expand Gotham’s criminal world.

The Batman Part II will hit theatres on 3 October 2025.
