Besides, the game also features several Easter eggs and references to the games in Fallout. However, despite closely following the game the TV series has also made considerable changes compared to the original game. As the maker Jonathan Nolan had revealed, it will have a unique identity that is different from the game. Similarly, the show makes several minor yet significant changes, that are not hard to notice.

Vaults are interconnected in the Fallout TV series

One of the biggest changes that the Fallout TV series makes is that of the vaults. Vaults in the Fallout universe have been one of the most unique and central aspects of the wasteland. They feature cruel experiments and iconic imagery, such as their iconic blue and yellow jumpsuits.

While the Fallout show retained a majority of the details about vaults seen in the games, it also unveiled an unseen type of vault. The series shows vaults 31, 32, and 33 are all connected, something that had never been seen in the games. The proximity of these vaults to each other worked as part of a larger creative experiment, however, it is a significant change compared to the game.

In the Fallout games, the vaults were essentially independent of each other. In fact, they were spread across the entire country. Thus the concept of connected vaults was never even slightly touched upon in the games. Interestingly, vaults 31, 32, and 33 fundamentally changed the way vaults functioned in Fallout.

Fans react to interconnected vaults

It wasn’t a change that was difficult to miss for the loyalists of the game. Fans quickly pointed out the change in disbelief, sparking a whole set of conversations about it on social media. Naturally, several speculations and fan theories began circulating about the concept of having interconnected vaults.

Several Redditors commented on the post sharing their own views and theories on what it could mean and what could be implications of having interconnected vaults.

A user ‘Various_Mail_2393’ says,

“They also imply that her dad came from vault 31 to marry her mom. So that leads me to think all the vaults are connected? Which is just weird for me. Granted, I’m 20 minutes into the first episode.”

Meanwhile another user ‘ZagreusMC’ expressed their confusion saying,

“She was applying for the “tri-annual trade” so I’m confused as to how they wouldn’t not recognize them as the vault 33 dwellers. I’m a bit confused”

While some fans of the game disapprove of this change in the plot of the game, there were others who think that “it’s a cool concept“. Regardless, the interconnected vaults are just one of the many changes that the show makes to the original Fallout setting.
