While some are expecting a reveal of the next-generation hardware, the company could shift the focus of fans with something far more exciting and long-overdue like Metroid Prime 4.
The Upcoming Nintendo Showcase Could Be Huge
It has become a running gag at this point for the gaming community to be optimistic for the imminent reveal of the next-generation hardware which was dubbed the Switch 2.
The president of Nintendo even had to step in and clarify that these Directs will not feature anything related to the next console. However, Jeff Grubb, a reliable industry insider, claims he knows nothing but believes the highly-anticipated Metroid Prime 4 will be officially revealed with a new release date for the holiday season.

With no solid proof to support his wild guess, the gaming community needs to take this with a grain of salt. The game has been stuck in development for quite some time and the fans are eager to get their hands on it. Also, if it is about to see the light of day, the company could use this to redirect attention away from Switch 2.
It is an exciting time for the gaming community and the company has the opportunity to take all the attention away from rival platforms. All eyes will now be set on the upcoming Direct but it is worth noting that everyone should be cautiously optimistic in case it falls short.
Metroid Prime 4 Could Be the Perfect Distraction From Nintendo
Sometimes industry insiders can indirectly hint at something they know but couldn’t officially tell for some reason. Perhaps Grubb was being coy and is neck deep with classified and confidential information that could put him in the hot seat if he accidentally spills the beans.
The gaming community is confident that their patience will be rewarded and hopes the company will deliver. The latter half of the year is looking dry and Nintendo could tilt that in its favor by dominating over the competition with some impressive exclusives and ports.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced the same year the original Switch was released and fans have been losing hope that it will be released on this console generation. The developers could be holding on to it for the next console, or make it a cross-generation release.
Regardless, all bets are off and fans are challenging the company to surprise them and blow them away with an impressive Nintendo Direct. Perhaps these upcoming titles will be the perfect swan song for the Switch and a hint of where Nintendo will go next.
