The Brothers Sun season finale of Netflix’s “Protect the Family” is satisfying. Even the calm after the storm of the penultimate episode with an excellent Michelle Yeoh at the series center is able to highlight the deeper themes of the series. ride, but still manages to be the calm after the storm of the penultimate episode.

The episode begins with Charles doing what Ba ordered him to do by going to his brother to kill him. When Charles locates and arrives at the cheap motel where Mama and Bruce are hiding. He storms into the room by breaking down the door. Charles begins to choke his brother while enraged. So, why doesn’t Charles kill Bruce? Because he has come to love him and the family he had forgotten.

Netflix’s The Brothers Sun Season 1 Episode 8 Recap: Why doesn’t Charles stop Xing going after Bruce?

Before Charles (Justin Chien) can stop Xing from going to kill Bruce, he’s arrested by Alexis. During the interrogation, Charles refuses to give up his father, Ba. He also begs Alexis to let him go so he can save his family. However, Alexis refuses because there’s no plausible way to let him out of the building.

Xing arrives at the motel where Eileen (Michelle Yeoh) is cooking and tells her to put down the knife. Per Xing, she is to kill Bruce, not her. Big mistake. When Xing turns her head, Eileen attacks her with a bowl. She uses, literally, anything in the kitchen sink. Eventually, Eileen chokes Xing out with a telephone cord because Xing’s loyalty to Ba is her undoing.

Bruce (Sam Song Li) then receives a call from Alexis. She manipulates Bruce into asking Charles the location of their father. Bruce agrees but with one condition: the cameras are turned off. Once inside, Bruce asks his older brother for the location so he can kill Ba himself. Charles gives him the address. When Bruce leaves, he tells Alexis (Highdee Kuan), “The brothers Sun don’t talk to cops.”

Why doesn’t Bruce kill his Ba Ba?

Bruce doesn’t kill Ba Ba (he tells Bruce they say “Ba Ba” in China) because he wants him to be arrested. Instead of shooting Ba in the heart, he shoots him intentionally to only cause a flesh wound. Bruce then gives his father a phone to call an ambulance.

Why does Bruce want Ba to go to the hospital and live? Because when his father arrives at the medical center, the police are automatically called. Ba will then be identified as the Triad Dragon Head and arrested. This way, Charles and Mama will be set free from Ba’s control.

Before this, Bruce was almost swayed by Ba to go back to Taiwan with him to be his second in command. He then came to his senses and shot him. However, he doesn’t escape death because Eileen knows Ba will want revenge. She pretends to be a nurse. Eileen changes Ba’s chart, adding that he’s diabetic. He will be given insulin when he doesn’t need it, which will kill him.

The Brothers Sun Season 1 Episode 8 Ending Explained: Why does Elieen go back to Taipei?

Brad Falchuk’s The Brothers Sun ends with Eileen choosing to go back to Taiwan to be the Dragon Head. Bruce is disappointed since everything he planned was to free his mom and Charles from Ba’s control. She explains that running the Triad, her way and for the better, is something she always wanted to do.

Initially, Charles is told to stay “to make his cakes,” get married, and give Eileen some grandchildren she can be proud of. After initially perfecting his churro recipe, he decides to go back with his mom. one, to help her establish a presence back home. The other is to get to know her.

Alexis (Highdee Kuan) all but announces her plans to run for district attorney. She does not show up to wish Charles goodbye. June also goes back to being a muscle for the Sun family. Charles hugs his brother goodbye. Bruce drives off in his Lamborghini but has trouble driving a stick shift.
