Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise is bringing out all the big guns in the third film, with Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, and Josh Brolin confirmed in the movie. The Knives Out films are giving tough competition to the MCU films regarding the star cast. Fans are excited about Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery after the first two films exceeded their expectations.
Daniel Craig returns to his role as the world-famous detective, Benoit Blanc, and shares in the film’s brief teaser that it’s his “most dangerous case yet.” The production, which began in London in June, reportedly wrapped filming in August.

A new set of interesting cast joins Daniel Craig‘s Benoit Blanc in the upcoming Knives Out threequel, Wake Up Dead Man. The big names hint that this film, too, will have a long list of suspects like Knives Out and Glass Onion. During the release of the second film, Rian Johnson explained his casting process was like “throwing a dinner party”. He shared with Tudum that he would try and invite people that he liked.
In a recent interview with Tudum, Johnson shared that he was lucky to have “some of my favorite actors on the planet” in the film. Interestingly, Craig was reportedly paid $100 million for his involvement in the two Knives Out sequels. Here’s a list of all the popular stars appearing in the film:

Josh Brolin and Thomas Haden Church joined the film in June while all other cast members joined early in May. Fans are truly excited about the ensemble cast of the film. Some are amazed at how Johnson was able to gather such a star cast, a feat usually possible only for the likes of Marvel and DC.
One of the fans described the film as a “comedy James Bond”, while another demanded for a wide theatrical release instead of a Netflix release. Rian Johnson drew inspiration for his titles from popular songs. The first film’s name was inspired by a Radiohead song, while Glass Onion‘s title came from a Beatles song. Wake Up Dead Man is a 1997 song from the Rock band U2 from their album Pop.
Jeremy Renner’s Appearance Comes After A Fun Reference In Glass Onion
Rian Johnson sneaked in a Jeremy Renner cameo in the second film, clearly suggesting his interest in bringing the actor into his film. Renner’s likeness was used in a fictional celebrity-branded hot sauce. The Renning Hot habanero chili pepper sauce went on to play an integral role in the plot.
During the interview with Tudum, Johnson talked about bringing Renner to his actual film from a hot sauce label. He was relieved that the Mayor of Kingstown actor found the hot sauce label funny. Johnson shared:
Jeremy’s a great actor who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time. I was very relieved he thought the hot sauce thing was funny! He’s playing a proper part in this one, we’ll keep the sauce off-screen. Maybe we’ll sneak a few bottles onto the catering table.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is scheduled for a 2025 release on Netflix.
