The John Wick star, Keanu Reeves is one of the most cherished actors in Hollywood. Thanks to his humbleness and his on-screen presence, he has cemented his stature as the down-to-earth hero. In a career span of about four decades, the 59-year-old Canadian actor did feature in many good films, but he is famously known for his roles in The Matrix and John Wick franchises.

What The Continental: From the World of John Wick Is All About

Ever since Peacock dropped the trailer of The Continental: From the World of John Wick, the internet has been buzzing about the show. Set to premiere on 22nd September 2023, the miniseries will give the audience a window into the infamous world of John Wick. The miniseries features Colin Woodel as young Winston Scott and Mel Gibson as Cormac.

Set in the mid-1970s in New York, the story of The Continental: From the World of John Wick focuses on the societal and economic struggles of North America. Whilst portraying so, the drama series also focuses on the world of professional killers and gives a sneak peek at Winston Scott, the enigmatic purveyor of the New York Continental.

Well, Peacock’s upcoming mini-series definitely shows a promising storyline that will be appreciated by viewers. But, considering the fact that it surrounds the world of John Wick, fans are excited to know if Keanu Reeves will reprise his trademark role in The Continental: From the World of John Wick.

Will Keanu Reeves Appear In The Continental: From the World of John Wick

The drama series starring Mel Gibson and Colin Woodel is based in the mid-1970s, and if we go by the timeline, it’s simple that John Wick was a kid back then and inclusion of him won’t make much sense. Until and unless the audience wants to see the pre-teen avatar of John Wick.

While promoting the miniseries, the executive producer of the show, Basil Iwanyk did acknowledge the fact that how a spinoff from the John Wick franchise would look without the titular character in it. And in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he answered this question by quoting.

“There’s a million different ways to look at it, and you just really don’t know. Of course, there’s research and bullshit, but it’s something in your gut. This is a prequel in the ’70s that doesn’t have Keanu and John Wick in it. Will it work?”It was about the franchise and the health of the franchise and what attracts people to the franchise, as [much as] it was [about] telling a great story,”

“We’re just kind of going and going and going and there isn’t that much time for self reflection of ‘Why is this working?’… We’re like, let’s just go forward and do things that we think are cool, and hopefully people agree. This show was the first time where we were going out of our comfort zone. And that was invigorating and exciting, but terrifying.”

Well, there isn’t much to disagree with as the miniseries explores the origin story behind the iconic hotel for assassins, through the eyes of young Winston Scott. It’s fair to say that the timeline on which the prequel has been set doesn’t justify the character of John Wick in it.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick will be streaming online on Peacock.
