When Lesley Manville appeared on The Graham Norton Show, she shared a humorous anecdote describing an incident that occurred during The Cherry Orchard production.
Manville who was co-starring alongside Judi Dench in the play became a victim of sabotage orchestrated by her. This incident she recalled created a buzz, she said,
“There’s a moment in The Cherry Orchard where my character was on their own onstage for a short time,–aJudi Dench is in the wings trying to make me laugh and she’s… how can I put this? She’s pretending that she’s being pleasured by somebody from behind.”
The situation then escalated dramatically, as she burst into laughter so uncontrollably that she ended up wetting herself while on stage. She continued,
“It gets worse–The stage was raked so I watched my p–s trickle down… If you were in the front row you’d have seen it go over the edge.”
Fortunately, the elaborate layers of the long dress she wore shielded most of the audience from the aftermath of Dench’s mischief, sparing her an unexpected spectacle.
Graham Norton Urged His Guests Not to Embarrass Themselves on His Show!
Thanks to his show, Graham Norton has had the opportunity to host numerous celebrities simultaneously, capitalizing on their competitive spirits. The show often relies on their humorous and humiliating stories for entertainment.
However, in their quest to outdo one another, celebrities sometimes overlook the potential consequences. When Norton appeared on Seth Meyers’ talk show, Late Night With Seth Meyers, as a guest, he cautioned celebrities against making fun of themselves on national television just for a few laughs, emphasizing the importance of considering the repercussions. He said,
“I think what’s good about actors is sometimes they don’t care about the audience, but they do care about each other,—So if an actor tells a funny story, you can see someone seething. Kind of like, ‘I have a funny story! I s–t myself!’. And so, the stakes get higher and higher. And sometimes we do get terrible stories – kind of like, ‘don’t tell that on television’.”
Therefore, the show host, having heard countless stories from celebrities, strongly urged celebrities to stop.
