Although it has been more than a decade since the titular second film from The Dark Knight Trilogy came out, fans have recently dug an Easter egg from the beginning of the movie, which recognizes the first-ever modern film Spider-Man portrayer, Tobey Maguire, as the GOAT (i.e. ‘Greatest Of All Time’) web-slinger.

The sequel to Batman Begins from the Christopher Nolan-directed trilogy, The Dark Knight is undoubtedly one of the biggest masterpieces from the DC Universe. Featuring Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, the film was like a gift to most DC fans.

However, there is something that makes the movie even better and, surprisingly enough, that something appears right at the beginning of the film. Making everything more stunning and exciting is the fact that this Easter egg that fans recently dug up from the one-and-a-half-decade-old movie is related to the original modern Spider-Man film series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As astonishing as it could get, the opening scene of The Dark Knight sees a gang of ‘Jokers’ pairing up to pull a bank heist. And it wasn’t some ordinary film poster: it was the poster of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3.

Here’s the tweet by @blurayangel on X which pointed out this Easter egg to other fans:

Following this, several fans have perked up to share how Tobey Maguire‘s web slinger’s appearance in a whole new film from a whole different franchise further proves that is nothing short of a GOAT Spider-Man.

Though this could be sheer coincidence, some other fans are bent on disagreeing, thinking it could mean something greater than what the eye can see. Perhaps, they aren’t wrong about it and there is, in fact, a greater meaning to this. Who knows? Perhaps.
