Back in 1978, Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie hit the theatres only to launch the modern era of superhero blockbusters. That DC movie unexpectedly became a great connection between its competitor, Marvel Studios as Kevin Feige considers it in high regard.

“Superman: The Movie is still to this day the archetype of the perfect superhero film origin story.”

He further commented on how he makes sure to give it a watch before making any new movie in the Marvel franchise.

“We watch it before we make any one of our films.”

He mentioned that he continued to follow the same pattern for many years now.  

“That’s been the case for the past seventeen years since I left the fold to go work for Marvel.”

Starring Christopher Reeve in the titular role, the 1978 movie tells the origin story of The Last Son of Krypton which is far gone unmatched. Kal-El is sent from the planet Krypton to Earth and is raised as Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas. As he grows up, he discovers his superhuman abilities which he uses for the benefit of humanity. It is a classic movie that has an enduring impact as it successfully brought the story of Superman to life.
