The Rock began his acting career with Mummy Returns in 2001 and went on to lead the prequel spin-off, The Scorpion King. Following that, 2003’s The Rundown marked Johnson’s turning point in acting. The movie co-starred American Pie star Seann William Scott alongside Johnson. Therefore, after the rise of The Rock in Hollywood, Scott recalled his experience working with the $800 million worth star.

The 47-year-old actor, best known for his work in the American Pie franchise, takes pride in letting the world know of his association with Dwayne Johnson. An A-lister now, Johnson was only a rising star when he starred in The Rundown. He played a bounty hunter, Beck, who was sent to Brazil on a mission to bring back his boss’s treasure-hunter son, Travis Alfred Walker, played by Scott.

The movie opened well and was enjoyed by the audience. However, the numbers indicated its box-office failure. Regardless, given The Rock’s popularity today, the Peter Berg-led film has become one of his classics. Similarly, Scott wears the experience as a badge of honor. He told The Messenger in a recent interview,

“It really goes down as one of my favorite experiences, just because [Johnson] is a legend. “He was a legend then, and I’m able to look back and be like, ‘I was one of his first!’ I don’t think it was a big success when it hit theaters, but that movie became a cult favorite.”

Moreover, the Goon actor felt fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to star opposite The Rock early in his career, years before he was Hollywood’s new hot-shot. Although, Scott’s humility ought to be acknowledged. The actor is also a leading star of a pretty popular franchise and does not shy away from confessing his admiration for Johnson.

Further in the interview, Scott also acknowledged himself as being a big fan of Johnson. Despite the box-office disappointment, The Rundown is a re-watch essential for many movie fanatics, especially The Rock fans. Thus, Scott feels grateful that the movie is still pinned up. Speaking of his fandom for Johnson, the American actor said,

“I wish I could call him every day and be like, ‘It’s me! I’m watching all of his movies and one of his biggest fans.”

Despite a 6.6 rating on IMDb, a Rundown sequel was in talks but it was a no-show. Yet, the Johnson-Scott duo reappeared in other Hollywood features like Southland Tales in 2006 and as voice actors for Planet 51.
