The original Battlefront games were something else back in the day, with countless options of playstyles and modes that encourage teamwork and strategic gameplay. The original Star Wars: Battlefront games are the latest classic games to receive a new coat of paint that can run on current-gen machines such as the PS4/PS5, the Xbox Series S|X, and of course, the Nintendo Switch where the announcement was made on their showcase known as Nintendo Direct.
Nostalgia will heavily benefit older players who were there from day one to experience Battlefront on the PS2 and Xbox to pick this up and play against the youth with the new 64-player online battles and even split screen.
Fans of the franchise have been waiting for new content, and having old titles making a comeback whether they are remasters or remakes will be embraced fully. Being able to partake in iconic space battles and forest fights from the films is such and being able to control the legacy heroes and even the villains themselves is like falling in love with Star Wars all over again.
This is where the fun begins for Star Wars
Fans have been begging for a remaster of the originals because in some ways they are just way better, EA had their way of showing how greedy they are by adding a pay-to-win system and loot boxes which brought together the fanbase and voiced their issues with the microtransactions. It wasn’t long until they were able to recover and became a safe space for Star Wars fans to compete and play their favorite heroes and villains.
The original Battlefront has set the standard of what a true shooter experience would be like set in a galaxy far, far away and that success echoed so loudly which made Battlefront II a worthy successor. Present-day publishers of the franchise have forgotten to take a look back and see what made these classic games hold their value to this day and be praised by many. It was a long battle but in the end, fans won and will fully experience it on March 14.
Thank the Maker of Star Wars games
Aspyr has been making a name for themselves when it comes to restoring classic titles like The Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy. The fan-favorite Jedi known as Kit Fisto will finally be a playable hero among others, new maps, and offline modes are available in terms of newer content. Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is a rare case where nostalgia does the heavy lifting with a bit of technical support.
If it isn’t broken then don’t fix it but polish and ship it for present-day consoles. The core game and nostalgia will always remain as the hook for players to return and enjoy. This announcement goes to show if fans use their voice, developers are listening.
