Spoilers for One Piece chapter 1121 revealed Dr. Vegapunk to get his wish fulfilled. While relaying the message about the unknown forces and the void century, he cleared one of the oldest myths in the One Piece fandom. Since Gol D. Roger’s execution, fans have always wondered whether the ‘One Piece’ was a synonym for friendship or happiness. But the scientist hinted it is to be materialistic, unlike the happiness of friendship.
He said,
Whether it will be the one Joy Boy wished or not, the fate of the world will be decided by the one who claim it… By the one who claim the One Piece!!!
It is hinted by Eiichiro Oda that it might be something powerful that can bring the world to the founder’s feet. Moreover, if it was happiness or friendship, it would not have let Roger give birth to more violence and hatred. But that is what happened after Roger’s execution speech. Monkey D. Luffy is trustworthy, happy-go, and respects his friendship. So, Luffy getting the One Piece would not be meaningful either since he already possesses all the qualities.
One Piece Chapter 1121 Saw The Shutters Slowly Falling On The Egghead Island Arc
Apart from Dr. Vegapunk’s message, there was another significant incident that was taking place simultaneously. Saint Jaygarcia Saturn vs. Monkey D. Luffy and Jewelry Bonney came to a close. Bonney and Kuma were fighting against Saturn. She became exhausted after using her Devil Fruit for so long. Finding it to be the perfect moment, Saturn attacked them, but Luffy intervened and blocked the attack. Luffy said it was Bonney’s job to finish Saturn. Bonney picked herself up and transformed into Nika again.
With a combined attack, the duo managed to defeat Saturn. It was seen there were holes in Saturn’s body, and he was falling into the sea. While it is yet to be confirmed, it could potentially be that the curtains are slowly coming down on the Egghead Island arc. Chapter 1121 will come out on July 21.
