The Finals, the free-to-play multiplayer destructible shooter title from Embark Studios, has been wildly popular since its open beta, and the game has been going strong since its release on December 7th. The game sees players competing in virtual arenas with destructible environments.
The developer has promised to keep the game exciting for players and has now delivered on its promise as it has dropped the December 2023 Christmas update just in time for the holidays. The new update brings new Christmas-themed outfits, cosmetics, ornaments for weapons, and more for players to get destructive in the holiday spirit.
The Finals Brings the December 2023 Christmas Update
The Finals released a new trailer announcing the Christmas update for the holidays, showing the Monaco map of the game covered in snow and decorations ready for Christmas. When players log in to the game, they will find a gift in the game that will contain these free holiday cosmetic rewards. The developer announced the update, saying:
To celebrate the holidays, contestants will find a gift waiting for them! And don’t forget to bring your boots to Monaco, because it’s snowy and the halls have been decked! Ho-Ho-Ho-Hop in there!
The update will bring themed outfits for players, cosmetics, ornaments, and “To You From All of Us” stickers for weapons, including guns and grenades. It is important to note that the update drops just two weeks after the game’s release, and players are appreciating the developer for bringing a celebration update so soon.
The game also received a Halloween update when it was in beta, so developers are not going to miss any opportunity to keep players engaged and excited about things in the game. The developer has also released patch notes with balance changes, quality-of-life improvements across the game, fixed the game crashing, and updates to the anti-cheat detection system to ensure fair play.
The latest patch has also fixed movement mechanics in the game, such as vaulting and ziplines. Players sometimes unintentionally climbed on objects that weren’t in their view and could also get stuck during vaulting at times. These issues have been fixed now. The placement of ziplines on pickupables will also be prevented in the game now.
Several UI improvements have also been made with the patch, as players will now have a health bar as per their squad colors, but it can be changed in the settings. The players will also be shown unranked now if they are not in the top 500 on leaderboards. There was also an issue that players who were not the party leader could see in the “invite to party” button and invite players; however, it has been fixed now. A warning has also been added that they are about to be AFK kicked.
Other patch updates include improvements to maps and game modes, as the Deathmatch game show event will not occur in BankIt game mode anymore. The Vegas mode has also received two updates, as the strain has been added to the buildings for a better destruction experience.
There were also issues with cashout stations going invisible before players could finish the transfers; it has been fixed now. There are several other changes to weapons and abilities with the patch update. Players can visit the official website to check out all the updates.
The game is currently in Season 1, which launched with the game’s official release. There are currently four maps in the game, namely Seoul, Monaco, Las Vegas, and Skyway Stadium, and all these maps have day and night variants. All the maps have different arenas for players to battle in, as some arenas are set across skyscrapers and some are in the streets.
The game has been praised for its gameplay, environments, graphics, and more, and the Christmas update will only excite the players more to destroy everything snowy in Monaco.
