The First Descendant 1.0.5 patch is live and a massive update introduces a new playable character, Luna, and also adds a new skin for an existing Ultimate Descendant. Before turning into a playable character, she was an NPC but now with her name a part of the rooster, this new character is set to bring a few of her own skills to the pool.

However, players, while thrilled about her looks and personality have their doubts about her ability to make any contribution to combat as her skills are more support-oriented and players don’t think the game needs more characters like this one.

Transcendent Mod will Save Luna from Unplayability

Luna’s skillset is designed to improve the abilities of her allies, which makes her yet another support character in The First Descendant

Her passive skill, called Improvisation, increases her Inspiration Gauge with each skill used, allowing her to use Enhanced Skills.

One of her active skills, Stage Presence, changes Luna’s weapon to her Unique Weapon. Once activated, she starts performing notes in time to the music and using skills and performing attacks to increase her Skill Power Modifier.

Her skills combine support and combat as with every enemy hit she gains an effect and improves her allies. This is particularly seen in her active skill Delightful Stage, which increases Inpiration Gauge and decreases the skill cooldown of allies.  Gaining the Enhanced Effect increases the Inspiration Gauge even more and immediately resets the cooldown of allies.

These skills, particularly when enhanced, ensure that she remains a consistent and reliable support character. However, Luna, like other support characters, like Yujin, will need Transcendent Mod for her to be a viable character in this third-person looter shooter.

This particular module can transform her from a pure support character into a damage-heavy role. Nevertheless, despite these concerns, she has potential and when her pleasant aesthetics are added to the mix, she will certainly be a playable character.

Fans Aren’t Too Optimistic about Luna

The huge 1.0.5 patch brought not just the new character with it but also a skin for Ultimate Valby which has already been the talk of the town. Now it is time for Luna to shine.

When her skillset was revealed many players started chiming in with their own thoughts and opinions on the character and not many have been positive ones.

One player, in particular, said that she is just one of those abysmally boring characters that got no damage but somehow need to be viable in the game, ergo support-oriented skills.

Another fan added that she is just a rip-off of Octavia character from Warframe who is also a music-themed hero.

More fans are saying the same as they don’t have much hope for the new The First Descendant character.

Nevertheless, some comments are in stark contrast to these, with one fan saying that they will play Luna and can’t wait to see her in action during the team missions.

Whether she becomes the next big thing in the game remains to be seen in the coming days as players learn her skillset.

For now, she remains a potentially great support who can transcend into a DPS character with the module, and players will look to exploit that option.
