Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted is the eighth mainline installment and the only VR game in the FNaF franchise. The game was also later released on PC and Consoles. The game was released in 2019 and will soon get a sequel, Help Wanted 2 this December. The game has one of the most interesting gameplay mechanics in the series and as the game is VR, players get to access the in-game areas that they couldn’t in previous titles.
Players play through various mini-games based on previous titles in the franchise and have to evade the attacks coming from sentinel animatronics. There are a total of 40 mini-games that recreate the game’s five nights or levels. These mini-games feature familiar experiences from previous titles and keep increasing in difficulty, and upon losing players are treated with jumpscares.
There are various collectible coins and cassette tapes scattered throughout the location in the game and listening to these tapes unlocks a secret ending where players get to know about Glitchtrap and Vanny. The original Five Nights at Freddy’s game was released in 2014 and was a point-and-click horror game that left players horrified and thrilled at every other turn. Players played as Mike Schmidt who works as a night security guard at a family pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
Players must spend five nights at the pizzeria and keep track of animatronics Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and Freddy Fazbear who like to roam around at night and keep them away from their office. Players are also able to close the security door to keep them away if the animatronics come too close but remember that there is limited power for players to use to keep the security door and cameras running.
A new animatronic appears every night, eventually increasing the difficulty. Players must consume power to keep the lights on until the end of their night shift. The game is divided into five levels or nights lasting around ten minutes and one extra sixth night that sees animatronics become more hostile.
