Ben Affleck reprised his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman for Andy Muschietti’s The Flash. The film explored Barry Allen’s efforts to save his mother by traveling into an alternate universe. The film also marked the return of Michael Keaton’s version of Batman, present in the said alternate timeline. The film and Muschietti employed and presented the best version of Batman from the two actors. Affleck got to shine in a poignant and heartfelt extended appearance in the character and Keaton showcased more of the badassery and charisma that many fans have attributed his Batman to be.

In the ending, George Clooney’s version of the character shows up in the new reality that has been created due to Barry Allen’s actions in the pre-existing timeline. Although brief, Clooney got to show the suave and charismatic side of his character (in a way, making up for his regrettable Batman and Robin). Muschietti seems to have enjoyed his time working with these actors who have brought their shades to the character and has shown his love for them in a series of posts.

What are the Chances of Batman Appearing in the Aquaman Sequel?

A still from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
A still from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the final film in the pre-James Gunn era of DC films after which the franchise will be rebooted under the vision of Gunn. There were many speculations and rumors about the possibility of other characters popping up in the film, especially Batman. Rumors again began to spread about the character being cut from the film due to poor test screenings.

However, these are all baseless rumors and speculations, and director James Wan has not confirmed or denied anything about all these rumors. The recent disappointments of the films in the franchise further added fuel to the fire. Judging from the trailer itself, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom looks like a self-contained story and there seems to be no place or necessity to bring in other DC characters. One can wait and find out for themselves when the film is released in theatres on 20 December 2023.
