Since the movie is based on the Flashpoint comics and in the trailers we can see that the movie takes place in an alternative universe, and as per James Gunn, this movie would set in an alternate universe and it would go on to reset the DC Universe, there is a high possibility that we can see multiple variants of Barry Allen, and chances are there would be more than two speedsters in the movie.

The Flash Variant Theory

The Flash variant theory is one of the most popular concepts in the DC Comics universe which showcases the idea of a multiverse, leading to the existence of alternate variations of Barry Allen. The alternate versions are called ‘variants’ that possess different abilities and personalities as compared to the original Flash.

Different variants of Barry Allen in DC Comics

According to the Flash Variant theory, if Barry Allen runs at an incredible speed, then he can create a rift in space and time, that will create an alternate reality. The variants are a result of different circumstances, that have led to unique traits and abilities. Even though all of the variants have different abilities and traits, they are easily recognizable.

It is amusing to see that the upcoming movie will be showcasing this concept and fans would possibly be able to witness new and interesting variants of Barry Allen, where each of them will have a different perspective leading to some laughs or serious moments.
