Saber Interactive released the announcement trailer for Jurassic Park Survival at The Game  Awards 2023. Jurassic Park Survival is a single-player action-adventure title set in the world of Jurassic Park and will take players back to Isla Nublar. The game is set after the events of the 1993 film and has been “65 million years in the making,” as per the official website.

Jurassic Park Survival will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S but no release date has been announced as of now. The players, judging from the announcement trailer, will take the role of InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi in a “never-told-before story” and try to survive at Isla Nublar after failing to evacuate the island during the events (the park collapsing) in the movie. The description of the game reads:

Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making.

Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story.

Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.

Isla Nublar is home to escaped dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park film and the game features distinct and adaptive behaviors for each dinosaur inspired by John Hammond’s vision in the 1993 movie. Understanding their behavior could be the key for players to ensure their survival. The trailer shows Dr. Maya Joshi trying to escape from dinosaurs such as the Dylophosaurus, a Velociraptor, and an iconic T-Rex.

This is a survival horror title and emphasizes stealth more than combat with players using their skills to overcome and avoid the dangerous dinosaurs. The game will feature famous locations such as the iconic park gates, the Visitor Center, and more from the original movie.

The trailer also references some of the most thrilling moments from the film such as the abandoned Jeep by the wire fence and Raptors chasing Dr. Maya Joshi in the kitchen. The Jurassic Park Survival trailer showcased some gameplay footage from the alpha development stage, and it looks promising so far. Players must use distraction techniques to get the dinosaurs off their backs and use the tools at their disposal to survive on Isla Nublar.

Jurassic Park Survival shares its name with the action-adventure game of the same name that was under development during the early 2000s, supposedly set to release in 2001 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube. However, it was delayed and eventually canceled after Universal Pictures was reportedly unsatisfied with the game and it has been radio silence on it since.

The game was initially under development by now inoperative Savage Entertainment and Konami as the publisher, and was originally based on the 2001 movie Jurassic Park 3, but it failed to see the light of the day. Now, Saber Interactive has taken the reigns on the game and it can only be hoped that it does justice to Jurassic Park Survival and exceeds the expectations of Jurassic Park fans.
