And following this new beginning, Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan hasn’t missed the opportunity to express his desire to attach himself to the DC universe.

According to recent reports, Flanagan is reportedly working to get a passion project getting run in the DC universe and has promised to be transparent about his future in DC with the fans.

Mike Flanagan reportedly pitched the idea of a Clayface movie to the DC studios

Over the years, Mike Flanagan has crafted several critically acclaimed shows, including The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, and has also been pretty vocal about his desire to work for DC. According to reports, it seems that following the shift in DC’s regime, Flanagan has reportedly pitched the idea of making a Clayface movie to the DC executives. The report also stated that Flanagan’s proposal is yet to be greenlighted but studios haven’t completely brushed off the idea.

However reflecting on the recent news, the Doctor Sleep director clarified that these are all speculations at the moment and promised to be transparent with his audience if he gets the deal.

Although it is being reported that the character of Clayface might also play a big role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe. However, it is being said that Flanagan’s idea of the character has nothing to do with Reeves’ universe and the director allegedly wants his idea to be set in the new James Gunn-led DCU.

Mike Flanagan can be the perfect director to pull off a Clayface movie

It isn’t the first time that Mike Flanagan has expressed his desire to attach his name to certain DC properties. Back in 2021, the director revealed that he always wanted to direct a Superman movie but is also keen on making a Clayface movie.

Considering that Todd Philip has already proven that movies surrounding the villains from The Dark Knight’s rogue gallery can work if done right. Following Flanagan’s filmography and his mastery of the horror genre, the director holds the ability to pull the perfect horror movie surrounding one of Caped Crusader’s most tragic villains.
