As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the series now titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is currently in pre-production stages. Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav revealed in a recent earnings call that Martin is hard at work on the series and it will premiere on Max in late 2025.

The series which will be set 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will focus on the adventures of a knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg. The official synopsis of the series reads as follows,

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

Production on the new series will begin sometime this year. After the success of House of the Dragon, fans are excited to see more stories with new Westeros characters set apart from the main Game of Thrones story. Fans can expect casting news and more information about the project as the year commences.
