The story takes place years before the 74th Hunger Games, an annual game attended by the citizens of Panem, the country ruled by a tyrant called President Snow. In April 2020, Lionsgate announced that there was a movie adaptation in progress and that Francis Lawrence would take over it. He directed both Catching Fire and Mockingjay films, and this time, he will return for the prequel.

Tom Blythe will portray young Snow, and recently, it has been announced that West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler will play Lucy Gray Baird, a girl from District 12.
