With three hit singles already in her belt, Sabrina Carpenter might just be on her way to becoming a huge pop star of the decade. Her latest music video with Jenna Ortega has already become a sensation due to the viral kiss between the two icons. However, the interest in the song might also be related to its rumored subject matter.

Taste sees Sabrina Carpenter addressing the new girlfriend of an ex-boyfriend, indicating her presence everywhere. The lyrics even go on to mention that the new girl would taste her while she is kissing him. Many have speculated that the song might be about her short-lived relationship with Shawn Mendes and his on-and-off girlfriend Camilla Cabello (via Elle).

Carpenter spoke about the song and its apparent taboo topics in an interview with Paper,

I will write any song. It doesn’t mean I’ll put it out, but I’ll write it. I think the series of unfortunate events I’ve encountered in relationships are no secret to people who know me or think they know me.

While Mendes and Cabello were reportedly back together after his fling with Carpenter, they reportedly broke up again (via Elle).

The music video for Taste is available to watch on YouTube.
