The Last of Us Season 2 is set to be released sometime next year and the HBO live-action adaptation is making some good progress. It can be hard to protect the confidentiality of a high-profile production like this show, it is easier for leakers to share unofficial first looks via set photos.

Appearances can be deceiving and the cast of the first season gave a stellar performance despite the backlash of not having any resemblance with the original character models. One set photo was shared and a major deal to some hardcore fans of the PlayStation game.

Naughty Dog struck gold with this franchise and the developers knew the material was too good and deserved to be adapted for a different audience. Craig Mazin serves as the co-creator and showrunner of the HBO adaptation and recently confirmed that The Last of Us Season 2 will not cover the entirety of the controversial sequel and will be broken down into multiple seasons.

This is a positive development for the adaptation and could be a wise creative choice to avoid the same fate as the source material. More seasons will likely mean more screen time and more content to go over and expand that the game never had the time for.

Some fans around the set of the second season took the opportunity to snap some photos and among them was a picture of Bella Ramsey in her Ellie Williams outfit. Among the many things that the gaming community disliked about the live-action adaptation was the casting and Ramsey got the worst treatment despite their performance.

Looks are not everything and it is silly to assume a perfect recreation of what was seen in the games. The tattoo on Ellie’s arm was introduced in the sequel and fans are upset about the size and placement. The adaptation is a massive success because Mazin is both a fan and a creative person and has the full support of Naughty Dog and Druckmann to get this project in the air.

Video game adaptations to live-action movies or television series can be tricky but HBO is confident with Mazin and Druckmann at the helm. The showrunner will not deviate from the source material and will remain faithful to whatever content the developers have put out.

Appearances may be a big deal to some but disagreeing with something does not give anyone the right to disrespect or undermine the effort made by the actors and showrunners. Perhaps if fans gave the show a chance, it may change their opinion.

Druckmann and Mazin’s work on the first season means that there is scarcely any reason to be uneasy about this project. The original director would not approve of anything if he detected something off or not up to standard.

Naughty Dog worked on the games and HBO shouldn’t bother to copy every detail. Not everything is compatible when being transitioned to another format. Are you excited for The Last of Us Season 2? Let us know in the comments section below!
