Marvel has no plans of bringing Robert Downey Jr. back into the MCU

In a recent interview, Marvel executive, Stephen Broussard expressed the studio’s vision for the MCU. And while discussing the future of the cinematic universe, he went on to debunk the rumors of Robert Downey Jr’s return in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. He stated,

“After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, torches are being passed, like with Robert Downey Jr. no longer being [on the] table and stuff like that. So it was kind of like a new generation stepping to the forefront which, again, has always happened in the comics.”

Broussard went on to stress the importance of new characters in the MCU’s future and shared that the prime motive behind phase four was to introduce new heroes, which will take MCU’s legacy forward. And even though many fans did expect to witness a clash between Robert Downey Jr’s Iron man and Jonathan Majors’ Kang, they still praised the studios’ decision to let RDJ and his legacy rest.
