The news of The Mandalorian movie happening right after Season 3, which puts the possibility of the fourth series installment at risk, shocked many fans, and it seems that actor Pedro Pascal had a hand in the decision. It has now been confirmed that Jon Favreau will be helming a movie version of the famed Star Wars franchise.
While many fans reacted negatively to this, Pascal was very enthusiastic to push for a film that would explore the story of and relationship between Din Djarin and Grogu. There are scarce details about its plot at the moment, but it will probably tie up with the previous events in the Disney+ series.
Pedro Pascal Wished For The Mandalorian Movie To Happen
In an old interview with Fandango, actor Pedro Pascal answered a question that was meant for The Mandalorian director Rick Famuyiwa. The host asked if he ever thought of ending the series with a movie, and the actor interjected:
“I’ll answer for him. Yes, he wants to, and that’s a great idea, and if it isn’t a conversation already, then it will be after today.”
It is unknown if Pascal’s response meant that there had been talks already about making a movie, or he just easily predicted the future because now it is truly happening. He even mentioned in the interview that he would make it a conversation in the studio so it only suggests that he was very thrilled with the idea.
There is no concrete report on the development of Season 4, though Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy expressed excitement for The Mandalorian movie. In a statement via Walt Disney Company, she stated:
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”
Likewise, Jon Favreau admitted he is looking forward to this project that would take The Mandalorian to the theaters.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Because of his hectic schedule working on various big franchises, fans have doubts that Pascal would have an active role in the creative decision. Regardless, the project seems to be in good hands with Favreau and Filoni.
Pedro Pascal Reflects On The Mandalorian Journey
It has been a long journey both for Pedro Pascal and Din Djarin ever since the debut of The Mandalorian in 2019. In an interview with CinemaBlend, the actor spoke about the realizations he had with his character:
“There are so many different surprising ways for us to experience emotion through this character because our introduction to him is the opposite of that. This is an emotionless, armored, hidden man. To see priorities change and to see, and for him to discover his own heart — in a way I don’t think he knew he had one — has been a really exciting thing.”
If Pascal and the whole team believe that a movie is fitting to tell the story of Din Djarin and Grogu, then it is probably the best medium to explore more of their adventures.
