The latest Major Order in Helldivers 2 has convinced the community that a terrifying Terminid threat is finally here: Hive Lords. For months, Arrowhead has been teasing players about this massive sandworm and now, players should brace themselves to fight against this unit. A player has pointed out that some strange sounds can be heard if you get too close to the boreholes on Terminid-infested planets. This is a direct hint that Hive Lords are coming to the game since they mostly navigate under the ground, making tunnels in a planet’s crust.

Helldivers recently destroyed a Terminid Supercolony and it was revealed that the attack caused more Terminid outbreaks. Players have come across some new Terminid enemies in the game but Hive Lords will be much more than that and obviously, very tricky to take down.

The Terminid threat is growing once again as the latest Major Order has ordered players to liberate 5 planets: Hellmire, Nivel 43, Estanu, Crimsica, and Fori Prime of the Draco and Mirin sectors so Super Earth citizens can settle there. To make things easier, Super Earth has provided players with Hive Break Drills to destroy their nurseries on those planets. While this seems like a foolproof plan, it may have the opposite effect.

A clip made by a Helldivers 2 player named cigretz is currently going viral on X after the player discovered that the boreholes on these Terminid-infested plants are making some strange noises. Since some trembling could also be noticed, players are convinced that this move may have forced Hive Lords to come out of hiding.

This could be the threat that Johan Pilestedt warned players about

It’s not surprising that Arrowhead has finally decided to add this popular threat to the game. Hive Lords were featured in 2015’s Helldivers and they were quite difficult to take down. Due to their massive size and ability to travel below the surface, it gets very tough to get direct hits. Players saw this coming as skeletons of Hive Lords were often found on Terminid planets.

It is believed that the Bile Titan is comparatively easier to take down than a Hive Lord so players should definitely train harder if they wish to take down this terrifying unit. Before the release of the latest patch, Johan Pilestedt, the Chief Creative Officer of Arrowhead Game Studios, dropped a hint that some old/new threats are coming to the game, so Pilestedt seemed to be warning players about Hive Lords.
