Megumi’s journey in Jujutsu Kaisen has always been downhill and littered with constant heavyweight battles and endless determination. Chapter 266 finally brings readers into the greatly ideal world, that Megumi dreamt of, where his friends lived in peace, unrestrained by the threat of the cursed spirits.

Megumi’s ideal world would be one of uneventful contentment. Common moments—such as shared meals and sun-dried laundry, or idle walks alongside someone like Yuji—are the things that he wanted in his mind. His final wish was to let his sister go in peace, to have that sigh at the very end, and comfortably saying, “Ah, I’m so happy.“

Fans are now very apprehensive about what is going to happen to Megumi because of the striking parallels between Megumi and Aki. Both characters share a deep longing for a peaceful future where they can experience some amount of comfort.

Aki’s tragic demise serves as the haunting reminder that sometimes even the best of dreams are brutally shattered. Moreover, the fact that they share similarities in terms of goals and connecting themselves to the main characters—Aki with Denji and Megumi with Itadori—makes one further worry that a similar fate could await Megumi.
Knowing their storylines’ eerie similarity, it’s hard not to wonder if Megumi will survive. If that isn’t more anxiety-inducing, then the fact that Gege Akutami does not fear a really intense plot twist or character sacrifice should be.
